A clerical check (service 1) of a marked paper makes sure:
In most cases, you will receive the outcome of these requests within a few days.
If you are concerned your results for unitised qualifications do not include the correct raw marks (and you have checked your unit results report and/or your moderation adjustments report) then you may wish to request a clerical check (or a review of marking).
For unitised qualifications, a clerical check will confirm your original raw marks have been correctly converted to UMS marks. You can also check this by using our raw mark to UMS converter to convert raw marks to UMS marks for any unit from the available series.
Before submitting a review, centres must obtain the written consent of candidates for clerical checks and reviews of marking since, with these services, candidates’ marks and subject grades may be lowered.
Written candidate consent is not required for a review of moderation as candidates’ marks may be lowered but their published subject grades will not be lowered in the series concerned. However, be aware a lowered mark may be carried forward to future certification.
By submitting your online application, you are confirming candidate consent has already been obtained. Copies of candidate consent forms do not need to be sent to OCR, but should be retained at your centre for at least six months following the outcome of the review or any subsequent appeal.
A sample candidate consent form is provided below:
For clerical checks and reviews of marking, you will not be charged for your review if the certification grade changes or, for unitised qualifications, if the unit grade changes. For reviews of moderation, you will not be charged if your centre marks are reinstated.
We’ll send an invoice when the review is complete. Invoices will usually be sent in the following months:
A more detailed explanation of our charging policy can be found below. For a full list of charges, see our fees list.
All reviews must be submitted via Interchange. You need either the centre administrator (GQ) or post-result full access (GQ) role to access the relevant areas.
For help on getting started with Interchange, or updating your user roles, see our Interchange pages.
As part of our work to increase our security arrangements, we’ve added two-factor authentication (2FA) to our secure website, Interchange. This means we’ve changed the way you log into Interchange. For more information, see our Interchange page.
To request a review:
Once you have submitted a review of marking or moderation, if you wish to amend or cancel your request:
If you request a cancellation and it is accepted, you won't be charged.
If you change your original request, eg from a review of marking to a priority review, the relevant fee will be applied.
When your review is complete, you will receive an email to let you know when a new outcome is available to view on Interchange:
If you requested a copy of the script, this will be available to download from our Access to Scripts service within 24 hours of the review outcome being available.
The outcomes of individual units or components will be added to Interchange as soon as they’re available. The overall qualification result will not be updated until all the unit/component outcomes are available.
If you didn’t request a copy of the reviewed script as part of your review, but you are unhappy with the outcome, please contact our post-results team to make a request at copyscripts@ocr.org.uk.
You’ll need to provide your centre number, plus the candidate and unit number/component details for the script you're requesting.
If you still have concerns following the outcome of a review, see our appeals page for more details:
