Why choose us?
Our offer for AS and A Level Media Studies
A clearly focused approach to teaching and assessment of the set academic ideas and arguments. Study of the set theories is limited to three media forms, and the specification clearly identifies the required scope of study for each theory. We have a consistent approach to the assessment of the set theories across exam series. Questions which require the use of theory will always clearly state this.
A coherent approach to the study of the required media forms. The set media forms are divided in a balanced way across the different sections of the exam components. Media forms are studied and assessed in relation to a specific section of the exam, rather than across multiple sections making exam preparation more straightforward for you and your students.
Consistent exam structure, with two equally weighted exams of the same length. The weighting of marks and assessment objectives and the number of questions in each exam section is consistent across each exam series.
A consistent approach to the media forms and key requirements for the NEA. NEA briefs always include four options covering the same media forms each series, this allows centres to approach the approach the NEA with confidence each year. All of the marks for the NEA are focused on students’ productions.
A range of contemporary, engaging and diverse set media products. A degree of optionality is available for some media forms, and for several media forms centres can select the editions of the set products they will study with their students. This gives greater freedom to teachers and helps keep delivery of the course relevant and engaging.
A wide range of support for teaching and assessment. Delivery guides, learner activities and factsheets are available to support teaching, accompanied by extensive assessment resources including practice papers, examiner and moderator reports, candidate exemplars, and a free e-learning course to support marking of the NEA. Subject specialist support for teachers is available from our subject advisor.
