Partnership with Fujitsu keeps Cambridge Technicals real
26 January 2017
Fujitsu is supporting OCR by giving 16+ students taking a Level 3 Cambridge Technical vocational qualification the opportunity to engage in a real world business project as part of their course. Fujitsu announced its backing for OCR's Cambridge Technical in IT at BETT2017.
The collaboration means those delivering the Cambridge Technical in IT course can offer their students a more authentic experience with tangible challenges and outputs. Students will focus on learning genuine digital skills needed in the 21st century workplace.
Employers have played an important part in all aspects of the Cambridge Technicals range, from helping to shape the qualifications to the development of materials to support teaching and learning. The input of employers with cutting edge digital expertise like Fujitsu is invaluable.
With Fujitsu's expertise, OCR is developing resources and assessment materials for the Cambridge Technicals in IT Introductory Diploma - Data Analyst pathway 2016 suite. This will include an optional final assessment activity around a range of Fujitsu-focused scenarios that learners may follow. Further details of the Fujitsu project will be released shortly but anyone interested can get in touch now via vocational.qualifications@ocr.org.uk.
Mara Bogdanovic, OCR Head of Business Engagement, said: "Our partnership with Fujitsu means that the students taking Cambridge Technicals in IT will now be able to incorporate a specially developed Fujitsu project relevant to the real world of work as part of their course. Having a project developed in partnership with the insight of a respected employer and business will support teaching, and help to inspire and challenge Cambridge Technical students."
