OCR bursary supports talented West Midlands students off to Cambridge University
OCR has awarded bursaries to fourteen exceptional students from schools and colleges across the West Midlands who are going to study at the University of Cambridge.
The OCR bursary programme, now in its twenty-first year, has supported over 200 young people financially and reflects the exam board’s long association with the West Midlands.
Each student will receive an annual bursary of £3,000 for every year of their undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge that can be spent on living or study costs and to make sure they make the most of their Cambridge experience.
Bursary recipients this year include talented budding engineers and entrepreneurs, accomplished musicians and sportspeople, community volunteers, and the founder of a charity.
OCR is part of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a non-teaching department of the University, and the fund for the scheme comes from historical links to the West Midlands Examinations Board. The OCR bursary programme continues to play a significant role in supporting the next generation of leaders and scholars from the West Midlands at Cambridge.
Jill Duffy, Chief Executive at OCR, said:
“Congratulations to every one of this year’s OCR bursary recipients: this is a reflection of your own exceptional achievements and talents.
“OCR is based in Coventry and our association with the West Midlands goes back decades. The bursary enables us to celebrate our connection to the region, empowering talented local students to pursue higher education at one of the best universities in the world. I wish every one of these talented recipients all the best with their studies, and I look forward to seeing what they achieve in the coming years.”
