New Chief Executive for OCR
28 July 2016
Leo Shapiro, currently Group Strategy & Development Director for OCR’s parent organisation, Cambridge Assessment, has been appointed Chief Executive of OCR. The new appointment is permanent, and effective from Monday 1 August 2016.
The priority for OCR’s new Chief Executive is to help guide OCR to a sustainable future by continuing the implementation of priorities and activities identified in a strategic review of OCR, completed in Spring 2016.
Leo joined the Cambridge Assessment Group in January 2015 as Group Strategy & Development Director with over 20 years’ senior management experience gained in the insurance, management consulting and retail sectors.
Since he joined, he has developed a good understanding of OCR, having worked closely with the senior management team over the last 12 months and with partners including Cambridge University Press as well as with the University itself. He was appointed to the Corporate Board at the end of last year.
Simon Lebus, Group Chief Executive of Cambridge Assessment, said: “I am pleased to confirm Leo Shapiro as OCR’s new Chief Executive. This appointment will ensure OCR continues to meet the needs of teachers and learners and overcomes the challenges facing all exam boards.”
