Results summer 2020 - what's available when?
With results coming out next month, we wanted to let you know how we’ll be supporting students, teachers and exams officers on the big day.
Following the cancellation of exams earlier this year, a brand new process has been in place so students get the fairest results possible this summer. Our aim is that students can progress to the next stage of their education or into the workplace, with results they are proud of.
Since schools and colleges submitted centre assessment grades and rank orders to us, we've been working hard to standardise those grades. This means we, and all exam boards, are applying a statistical model developed by Ofqual for GCSEs and A Levels so grades are consistent across all schools and colleges. For Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals, we’re also using a standardisation process based on the principles outlined by Ofqual and very similar to the one for GCSEs and A Levels. Above all, we want students to get the results they need to move ahead.
Key dates
13 August: AS and A Levels and all Level 3 results
Results will be available for students on 13 August (and for schools, colleges and other centres on 12 August 2020). Cambridge Technicals will be available for release from 12 August.
20 August: GCSEs, Cambridge Nationals and all Level 2 results
Results will be available for students on 20 August (and for schools, colleges and other centres on 19 August 2020).
Timing
Results can be shared with students from 8.00am on 13 and 20 August.
Information
We want results day to go as smoothly as possible for schools and students. As well as the normal results information we give to schools and colleges, we’ll be providing extra reports with the data we’ve used to calculate students’ final grades this summer, and more on how the standardisation model works. There will be information about how we’ve calculated grades for schools to pass on to students too. We’ll be providing clear guidance on what schools need to have in place to support appeals this year. For students, we’ll provide information about how we’ve calculated final grades and options including appeals and making entries in the autumn.
Help on the day
On both restricted and public results days, our Customer Support Centre will be open from 7am and you can contact us on 01223 553998 or via general.qualifications@ocr.org.uk.
As ever, we encourage students to talk to their schools and colleges first with any queries they have about their results. And at a time when many students feel anxious about their results and their options, we’ll also be sharing some supportive blogs on dealing with stress and on their next steps.
We’ll be providing more updates between now and results day.
