Calling all Maths teachers - OCR offers choice of accredited A Levels

OCR's new linear AS/A Level Maths A and B (MEI) have both been accredited for first teaching in September 2017. 

OCR is the only exam board to provide schools and colleges with a choice of two new Maths suites in what is now the most popular A Level. Throughout the development of our new A Levels, we have involved the Maths community, working closely with practising teachers and consulting with HE students and lecturers. 

OCR's new AS/A Level Maths A builds upon our current specification. It provides a clear and coherent course of study and is based on our experience of what works well in the classroom, providing strong subject progression and teacher support. The new OCR AS/A Level Maths B has been developed with our longstanding partners, Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI), and is designed to prepare students to use Mathematics in a variety of contexts. 

Schools have the option to choose the A Level with the qualification structure that best suits their students and the approach that best suits their teaching. Underlying both is our aim to encourage deep mathematical understanding in all students.

To find out more about the changes to Maths at A Level affecting all exam board qualifications, OCR is holding free conference events for Maths teachers across the country in February and March 2017. The key reforms to Maths at A Level include linear assessment, teaching mechanics and statistics - involving large data sets - for the first time, and the use of technology. 

As part of OCR's commitment to Maths, OCR has also developed two new Further Maths suites. We will update teachers regularly about our progress towards accreditation.
