Advance information for summer 2022 exams now available
07 February 2022
To support students revising for exams this summer, advance information for the majority of GCSE, AS and A Level subjects, as well as for Core Maths and FSMQ, is now available via our finder tool. You can also find a link to the advance information finder on each qualification page. (Please note that advance information is also available for students taking Cambridge Nationals in Information Technologies in January and in June 2022.)
Advance information is about the focus of content within a specification to be assessed in summer 2022. It gives an indication of some of the content, texts, topics, themes and skills that students can expect in their exams, although it won't cover everything that could be assessed. It will also be different for different subjects and different specifications.
To support teachers, we are offering free online Q&A sessions between 14 and 24 February to answer your questions on advance information. We will also follow up with a series of subject-specific blogs. To answer some of your general questions now, please take a look at two blogs we’ve published today – one for teachers, one for students. More guidance about advance information is also available from the JCQ.
Advance information is one of the measures to help support teachers and students for the summer 2022 exam series. You can read an overview of the measures in our news story. Advance information is provided to support students and teachers in subjects where no choice of topics or content (‘optionality’) for an exam has been introduced. It will not be provided therefore for GCSE English Literature, GCSE History, GCSE Ancient History or GCSE Geography. It will also not apply to AS and A Level Art and Design which will be assessed by NEA via a portfolio.
November 2022
Advance information will be provided to support revision for GCSE Maths and GCSE English Language exams in November 2022.
