Minor amendments to NEA guides and specifications for GCSE, AS and A Level Physical Education

We’ve made amendments to the NEA guides and specifications for the following qualifications:
- GCSE Physical Education (J587)
- AS and A Level Physical Education (H155, H555)
NEA guides
These amendments are in response to feedback from teachers for the sporting activities.
GCSE Physical Education (J587)
In the Guide to non-exam assessment (NEA) for GCSE Physical Education, we’ve amended the following:
- on page 69, we've clarified the core and advanced skills for boccia
- on page 87, we’ve removed one of the core skills for trampolining
- on page 98, we’ve updated advice regarding the PE mark input form
- on page 102, we’ve updated the guidance for centres who would like early moderation
Please make sure you're familiar with the key dates listed in Appendix A of the NEA guide and the updated timeline for GCSE Physical Education.
We’ve also made a minor amendment to Level 5 in the Analysing and Evaluation Performance (AEP) assessment grid for GCSE Physical Education. AS and A Level Physical Education (H155, H555)
In the Guide to non-exam assessment (NEA) for AS and A Level Physical Education, we’ve made the following amendments:
- on page 125, we’ve updated the link in the swim time conversion table
- on page 47, we’ve clarified the core and advanced skills for boccia
- on page 100, we’ve removed one of the core skills for trampolining
- on page 129 and 130, we’ve amended the triathlon timings
- on page 1, we’ve updated NEA restrictions for filmed evidence in isolation
- on page 114, we’ve updated the guidance for centres who would like early moderation.

Specification amendments
Entry codes for split NEA components
In October 2022, we confirmed the June 2023 component entry codes for GCSE, AS and A Level Physical Education in our entry codes booklet for 2022/23 (see pages 52 and 83). To reflect this, we’ve corrected the entry codes in the specifications for GCSE and AS Level Physical Education.
