The Department for Education's consultation on the approved list of sports

The Department for Education (DfE) is holding a consultation on the approved list of sports for GCSE, AS and A Level PE. The consultation opened on 24 October and will run for eight weeks, until 20 December.

This review is open to the public and the Department will consider all responses. However, if you wish to put forward a sport which has a national governing body (NGB), we recommend contacting the NGB for the sport first, to discuss the consultation. This will allow the NGB to collate information and prepare any response they might have planned.

We encourage teachers and the wider sports community to take part. All responses to the consultation should be submitted online.

Any sports proposed to be added to the list will be assessed against the criteria used to create the original list, and the DfE is aiming for any additions to the list to be first taught from September 2020.
