Administration (Business Professional) and IT User Skills (ITQ)
23 April 2021
Further to our vocational qualifications arrangements for 2021 update, we are applying further adaptations for Administration (Business Professional) and IT User Skills (ITQ) for those students due to complete their qualification by 31 August 2021.
Adaptations for Administration (Business Professional)
- More opportunities for cross-referencing. This has been added to the adaptation guidance and is highlighted within the guidance.
- For Levels 1 to 3 only we are streamlining assessment. For students due to complete their qualification by 31 August 2021 and where disruption to teaching has been substantial, we will allow you to reduce the number of assessed units required to complete the qualification. However, we would still expect teaching and learning of all units to continue. More details on this adaptation can be found on our support centre.

- The summer 2020 adaptation to complete specific CLAiT assessments from home has been reinstated. More details on this adaptation can be found on our support centre.
Reduction in assessment
- For Award, Certificate and Extended Certificate qualifications, you can reduce the number of units assessed by one unit
- For Diploma qualifications, you can reduce the number of units assessed by two units
- This adaptation does not apply to Level 4 Administration (Business Professional) qualifications or ITQ qualifications for apprentices (13996 and 13999).
Where mandatory units have not yet been achieved these must be prioritised. Any reduction in the assessment of mandatory units, including if you are teaching a course with only mandatory units, should be as a last resort where all other options to complete them have been exhausted.
By reducing the amount of time you and your students spend on the assessment of units, we hope this adaptation gives more time to focus on teaching and learning. Teaching as much of the content as possible is vital for students’ progression.
When applying the reduction of assessment, please consider if the student will rely on experience of being assessed for any specific units for progression onto further study or work. Reducing assessment is optional. If an assessment can be completed, it must be.
Details on how to request a reduction in assessment and further guidance can be found on our support centre:
