Entry Level Physical Education update 06 March 2025

This update was first published on 17 January 2025. We've now updated the arrangements on submitting evidence – please see below.

In this update, we provide an overview of the moderation arrangements for Entry Level Physical Education (R463), including confirmation of the submission arrangements, details of support materials and key dates for the year.

For the June 2025 series, all PE moderation activities will be accessed via the OCR PE Moderation Service. Known previously as OCR PE Submissions, and accessed via our single-sign on service, My Cambridge, the service is currently used to submit visit and moderation arrangements. The service is now being expanded to allow you to submit your activity and analysing performance marks.

      Visit and moderation arrangements

Whichever moderation method you’ve chosen, you'll need to tell us which practical activities your students have chosen. You can do this by completing the visit arrangement form, available on the OCR PE Moderation Service, by 21 February.

You will be asked for the following information:

      • The name and contact details of the person responsible for the PE moderation.
      • The activities you are planning to submit marks for.

In addition, if you are planning to have visiting moderation, you will be asked to provide dates your centre is unavailable for the visit to take place.

Your school or college can only submit a form once – if you need to make any changes to your moderation arrangement details, please contact us at support@ocr.org.uk.

If you’ve chosen the visiting moderation option, after you have submitted your visit and moderation arrangements request, your allocated moderator will contact you with a suggested date and time for the moderation visit. We aim to have all visits arranged by 15 March.

      Making entries

You must submit entries by 21 February. For support with making entries, see the entry codes booklet for general qualifications.

When making entries for Entry Level Physical Education (R463), your whole cohort must only be entered for one of the following three options:

      • Digital upload via Submit for Assessment (01)
      • Postal moderation (02)
      • Visiting moderation (03)

      Submitting marks

Once you have made your entries, you will be able to submit your marks. The earliest you’ll be able to submit marks is early February.

All component and activity marks must be submitted by 15 May. To improve your experience, we are making some improvements to the way you submit your marks.

Activity and analysing performance marks will be submitted via our secure website, OCR PE Moderation Service.

When you submit your activity and analysing performance marks, the service will automatically calculate the overall component mark. You can then use this to submit your component mark as usual via Interchange or EDI.

      Submitting evidence

      Digital upload and postal moderation

For the digital upload and postal moderation options, you must submit your marks and sample of work by the deadline of 15 May. You will need to submit:

      • Filmed evidence of Practical Performance
      • Written or filmed evidence of the Analysing Performance task
      • Analysing performance task sheet

For digital upload, all filmed and written evidence must be uploaded to Submit for Assessment.

For postal moderation, all filmed and written evidence must be sent by 15 May to OCR PE Filmed Evidence, Post Assessment Services, DC10, Hill Farm Road, Whittlesford, Cambridge CB22 4FZ.

      Visiting moderation

Once you've submitted your marks (no later than 15 May), a moderator will contact your centre to discuss which activities and students will be sampled on your moderation day, by live performance. If you are submitting marks in activities which cannot be moderated live, a sample of filmed evidence for each activity should be made available for the moderator to view on your moderation day.

For further guidance on filmed evidence, see Appendix C of the Entry Level guide to non-exam assessment available on our Entry Level PE qualification page and Teach Cambridge.

      Key dates for 2024/25

There is no change to the key dates and deadlines for the upcoming year:

      • 21 February – Make your entries
      • Early February to 15 May – Submit your activity, analysing performance and component marks
