Measures to embed timely delivery of vocational qualification results in 2024 and beyond
30 October 2023
This update was first published on 19 October and has now been revised to confirm when Cambridge Nationals results will be issued to centres.
Ofqual recently confirmed the measures they have asked awarding bodies, schools and colleges to implement in order to ensure the timely delivery of results for students taking vocational qualifications this academic year and beyond.
These include a term-time checkpoint for schools and colleges to confirm which students need a result in August to progress to higher or further education and issuing results with enough time for exams officers to check and prepare them for final release to students.
These measures apply to OCR’s Cambridge Technicals qualifications and, new for this year, Cambridge Nationals.
For Cambridge Technicals, once qualification entries (registrations) have been made, the Progress Tracker will continue to allow schools and colleges to identify whether students are eligible to receive their full qualification award. We will provide more detail about the checkpoint arrangements after half-term. In summer 2024, as we did in summer 2023, we will publish results on the Monday before A Level results day (12 August 2024).
For Cambridge Nationals, there will be no change to the current, published, administrative arrangements – the certification entries you make to let us know students are ready to complete their qualification will form the term-time checkpoint. Results will continue to be issued at the same time as GCSE results. In summer 2024, results will be issued on 21 August for release to students on 22 August.
