Specification amendments for Cambridge National in Health and Social Care J835
01 June 2024
Following feedback from teachers and updated regulatory requirements, we have amended our specification for Level 1/Level 2 Cambridge National in Health and Social Care (J835).
The amendments we've made include updates on the following:
- Entry rules including the terminal assessment rule and exam resits
- Unit R035: Health promotion campaigns – teaching content exemplification and some marking criteria for Task 1b
- Assessment dates for OCR-set assignments
- Collecting evidence of student performance to ensure resilience in the qualifications system
- Using component codes when making final entries
We have listed all the amendments and corresponding page numbers at the front of the amended specification.
You can view and download the amended specification, Version 4 (May 2024), from the Health and Social Care Level 1/Level 2 qualification page on our website and Teach Cambridge.
Updated sample assessment material
To reflect the marking criteria in the amended specification, we have also updated the sample assessment material which you can view and download from the Health and Social Care Level 1/Level 2 qualification page on our website and Teach Cambridge.
Remember to make sure you are using the correct version of the specification with your students when they complete their NEA assessments for the 2025 series.
Unit R035: Changed marking criteria for Task 1b
For Unit R035, we have changed the marking criteria for Task 1b. Please make sure you review the updated marking criteria when using the 2025 OCR set assignment, published on 1 June 2024 on Teach Cambridge.
We would like to thank teachers for providing us with feedback and we hope the changes we’ve made to the specification help to support the teaching of this Cambridge National qualification.
