Following feedback from teachers and updated regulatory requirements, we have amended our specification for Level 1/Level 2 Cambridge National in Engineering Programmable Systems (J824).
The amendments we've made include updates on the following:
- The terminal assessment rule and exam resits
- Unit R048: Making and testing electronic circuits – some marking criteria
- Unit R049: Developing programmable systems – some marking criteria
- Submitting work for moderation
- Collecting evidence of student performance to ensure resilience in the qualifications system
- Using component codes when making final entries
We have listed all the amendments and corresponding page numbers at the front of the amended specification.
You can view and download the amended specification, Version 4 (June 2024), from the Engineering Programmable Systems Level 1/Level 2 qualification page on our website and Teach Cambridge.
Updated sample assessment material
To reflect the marking criteria in the amended specification, we have also updated the sample assessment material and unit recording sheets which you can view and download from the Engineering Programmable Systems Level 1/Level 2 qualification page on our website and Teach Cambridge.
Remember to make sure you are using the correct version of the specification and unit recording sheets with your students when they complete their NEA assessments for the 2025 series.
We would like to thank teachers for providing us with feedback and we hope the changes we’ve made to the specification help to support the teaching of this Cambridge National qualification.
