Withdrawal of funding from low enrolments qualifications: revised timeline
14 December 2020
The Department for Education has now confirmed the process for de-funding post-16 qualifications with low, publicly-funded enrolments.
Awarding organisations have until 5 March 2021 to notify the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) if any of the qualifications in scope with less than 100 enrolments in each of the last three years, should have funding retained for new starts in 2022-2023.
The move to review these qualifications is one element of the government’s wider review of post-16 qualifications both at Level 3 and Level 2 and below.
GCSEs, A/AS and T Levels are excluded from the review.
