Results trends 2024: VTQs 26 August 2024

Alongside GCSEs and A Levels, results were also issued for Vocational and Technical Qualifications (VTQs).

Level 2

Students received more than 400,000 results for Level 2 and Level 1/2 VTQs used for progression. For the first time, these included new Tech Award qualifications which account for the vast majority of the VTQ results (360,000).

The subject areas with the most Level 2 VTQ certificates were:

  • Leisure, travel and tourism (81,900 certificates)
  • Arts, media and publishing (72,400 certificates)
  • Health, public services and care (69,250 certificates).

Level 3

Students received more than 400,000 results for Level 3 VTQs. 217,000 results were awarded for Applied Generals, and 32,000 awarded for Tech Level results.

The subject areas with the highest number of Level 3 VTQ certificates were:

  • Business, administration and law (60,300 certificates)
  • Social sciences (39,600 certificates)
  • Health, public services and care (32,650 certificates).

T Levels

In this, the third year that students have completed T Levels, 7,380 students received T Level results across 16 subject pathways (up from 3,559 students last year covering 10 pathways).  88% of this year’s cohort achieved a pass or above for their overall T Level.  95% completed an industry placement.

Ofqual will publish an equalities analysis, setting out the differences in results between students with different characteristics, in the autumn.

Our summaries of this year’s results trends for A Levels and GCSEs are also available.
