Proposals published to carry forward NEA arrangements for 2022
14 May 2021
Ofqual is consulting on non-exam assessment (NEA) and fieldwork requirements in certain subjects for students entering GCSE, AS and A Level qualifications in 2022.
Changes were made last year to NEA and fieldwork requirements for some qualifications due to be awarded in summer 2021 in order to address disruptions caused by the pandemic. This new consultation seeks views on whether these adaptations should be carried forward for summer 2022, and particularly those subjects for which the NEA or fieldwork would be taking place this term. The proposals cover:
- NEA in dance, design and technology, drama (and theatre), film studies, food preparation and nutrition, media studies, music, music technology, and physical education
- Fieldwork activities in geography, geology and environmental science
- Assessment of spoken language in GCSE English Language
- Assessment of speaking skills in GCSE modern foreign language qualifications.
Ofqual continues to monitor the lifting of public health restrictions and will provide more information on further arrangements for 2022 in due course.
