Proposals published for post-16 Level 2 qualifications supporting progression to T Levels
27 January 2023
As part of reforms to post-16 education, both the Department for Education (DfE) and Ofqual have issued consultations on post-16 Level 2 qualifications that support progression to T Levels.
It is the DfE’s intention that some Level 2 qualifications be taught as part of the new T Level Transition Programme (TLTP). This Programme provides a route onto T Levels for students who would benefit from the additional study time and preparation that it will give them before they start their T Level.
The focus of the Level 2 DfE consultation is on revisions to the National Technical Outcomes developed for the T Level Transition Programme. The aim is for the National Technical Outcomes to provide a clearer framework that can be used as the basis for the content of Level 2 qualifications supporting progression to T Levels.
The Ofqual consultation proposes the regulatory arrangements for post-16 Level 2 qualifications that support progression to T Levels. The arrangements cover the assessment strategy, qualification purpose and content, grading and standard setting.
The deadline for responses to both consultations is 6 April 2023.
