New regulatory consultations on summer 2021
25 February 2021
Following the announcements on the arrangements for both general and vocational qualifications this summer, Ofqual has issued two new ‘technical’ consultations.
The consultations on the General Qualifications Alternative Awarding Framework (GQAAF) and the VTQ Contingency Regulatory Framework (VCRF) propose extraordinary regulatory conditions and requirements to put the latest policy decisions into effect – that where assessments are unable to take place, students will receive grades determined by teachers and based only on what they have been taught.
The new general qualifications consultation also seeks feedback on two important, draft documents:
- Information for heads of centre, heads of department and teachers on the submission of teacher assessed grades in summer 2021. This document provides information about how to generate grades and the evidence that should be considered.
- Information for centres about making objective judgements. This provides additional information on objectivity in grading to help schools and colleges ensure this year’s grading is as fair as possible.
The deadline for responses to both consultations is 11 March 2021.
