NEA arrangements to be carried forward for 2022
18 June 2021
Changes agreed for non-exam assessment (NEA) and fieldwork in 2021 will be carried forward for students entering qualifications in summer 2022.
Following 2,663 responses to its consultation, Ofqual has announced that the adaptations made last year to NEA and fieldwork requirements for some qualifications due to be awarded in summer 2021 will be carried forward to summer 2022.
Ofqual will allow for a range of adjustments to the NEA arrangements to accommodate public health restrictions in dance, design and technology, drama (and theatre), film studies, food preparation and nutrition, media studies, music, music technology, and physical education.
Changes to fieldwork activities in geography, geology and environmental science will also be carried forward to summer 2022, as well as the assessment of spoken language in GCSE English Language and speaking skills in modern foreign language GCSEs.
These early announcements on 2022 come ahead of further consultation on the arrangements for exams next year because, in normal circumstances, the NEA or fieldwork for these qualifications could be taking place this term.
