“National conversation” on curriculum and assessment begins
26 September 2024
A Call for Evidence has been launched as part of the Department for Education’s "national conversation" on the curriculum - the Curriculum and Assessment Review.
This eight-week Call for Evidence will consult on what is working well and what could be improved in the curriculum and in assessment from Key Stages 1 to 4, and in 16 to 19 education.
A range of areas are covered including how best to ensure an excellent foundation in English and maths, how to provide a broad and balanced curriculum with the right qualification content and pathways, and other issues such as transition from Key Stage to Key Stage, the use of technology, and support for SEND students.
The review will also take written and oral evidence from key stakeholders, alongside a series of regional engagement events to meet and take input from young people and school and college staff.
The deadline for responses to the Call for Evidence is 22 November 2024. An interim report from the Curriculum and Assessment Review is expected early in the new year with full recommendations published in autumn 2025.
OCR’s own review and report into 11-16 Curriculum and Assessment Striking the Balance will provide substantial evidence to the Department for Education’s review.
