This update was first published on 13 April 2026. We can confirm that the live and sample set assignments are now available as detailed below.

Following feedback from teachers and moderators, from 1 June 2026, we will be updating the sample set assignments for the following Cambridge National qualifications:

• Engineering Design – J822
• Engineering Manufacture – J823
• Engineering Programmable Systems – J824

The changes we're making are to clarify what students are required to do and what is advisory for each task in the sample assignments.

You will be able to view and download the updated sample set assignments from:

• the Assessment > Sample assessment materials section of the Cambridge Nationals Engineering qualification pages on our website
• the Assessment > NEA/Coursework > Sample assessment materials (NEA) sections on Teach Cambridge.

These changes will also be reflected in the live assignments released from 1 June 2026 onwards.
